Launching my 5.0
Okay, Im fairly new to mustangs, just sold my turbo awd so rwd is a little hard getting used to. My mods are in my profile but trying to launch on street tires and a stock suspension is almost a lost cause. My questions are whats the best way to launch on the setup I have now and what would be a good wheel/tire combo for the future(a low budget one because I'm still in college)?
wheel choice is up to you, but a good drag radial is the nitto 555r. it lasts for about 12-15 k if you don't constantly do burnouts (i looked at mine today and its bald-after 5k [:-]) and hooks pretty good.

very nice engine btw. what rotating assembly are you using?

On a budget?
Pretty decent mod list you have there
You can try 2grand and feather the clutch.
So you're on the verge of breaking traction.
But when I'm on street tires, I just go off idle and keep spinning to a minimum when i can.
As far as wheels go, if you're really only going to do this at the track.
Get some 26x10.5 ET Streets and throw those on when going to the track.
Should be very fun for ya.
Can't really get a great sticking tire that will last quite some time on the street.
But you could do as fordguy says and pickup some Nitto's
Theyre not the greatest but can be heated to get SOME traction.
Other choices are BFG DR's and Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials.
