Default Wires Burning

Anybody else have a problem with BBK $hitty... i mean shorty headers?

problem being the spark plug wire boots are constantly burning right thru and arc-ing... #3 wire boot has to touch the header to be on properly and it just keeps burning up, its getting annoying going to every autobarn and autozone in my area and buying and returning wiresets so i can get the one wire out of them.

my friend says it is because my car has edelbrock performer heads wich require a specific plug to fit in the head properly but since the plug sticks out as far as it does the boot must touch the header........ gaahhhhh its so frustrating

i am planning on buying motorsport wires.... i have bosch wires now but does anyone know about any wires that dont burn? My father tells me some companies have wire boots that will not burn even if sitting on the header... something about having an oil based silicone? i dont know

any info will help i cant stand having this missfire anymore!!!!!

You can buy heat sheilds that slip over the wires. They are an aluminized fiberglass material(I think) and seem to work well. There are also shorter header type sparkplugs.

i already have the heat shields i took them off of the msd wires that were originally on the car they do not work good when it comes to sitting on the header...

i wanted to go with msd because someone said the boot angle is adjustable so i can get a 90* angle to keep it from touching the header

although i would rather have the cheaper and larger ford racing wires but i do not know if they have a 90* i think they are 45*
