Default 2013 V6 Coupe gauge lights dimming question

Hi Everyone.
1. When I turn on the park lights, the gauge lights dim.
2. When I turn on the headlights, the gauge lights brighten up again.
3. Switch back to park lights and gauges dim.
4. Sometimes, with the headlights on, the gauge lights will dim 5-10 minutes later, while driving.
5. Sometimes, while using park lights and dim gauges, the gauges will brighten up 5-10 mins later, while driving.

My question, is there a light sensor somewhere that is causing the gauge lights to brighten or dim?
I called the Ford dealer and the service tech hadn't heard of this issue yet.
I've only had the car two weeks.
Thanks in advance for any help/wisdom on this.

Hello, I just bought a new 2013 Mustang GT and I have had the same thing happen to my guage lights. Did anyone find an answer to why this happens and how to fix it?

Hey dcwheeler,

I've had one 2011 GT owner tell me there IS a light sensor somewhere that will dim the dash lights.
I'm still not 100% convinced and can't seem to find an good answer for the 2013 models.
Mine still seems to dim or brighten at random.

Does it only do this during the day? Maybe you're using autolamp and your lights are sometimes not really on?

There is a light sensor in the center of the dash near your windshield.
