Popping noise???

Default Popping noise???

Not a stang or even ford its a Jeep grand cheeroke but when he reverse's and sometimes goes forward the rear end makes a horrible popping noise, hes been driving on it for awhile now but still gets him around....car has HIGH miles. What is the problem?

i had that sort of problem with my t-bird, but that was because the custom rims had the holes bored out to an oval to fit the lug pattern and every time i backed up they would pull out of place and when i when foward they would click back into place...


it could also be the brakes

i dont know what you mean by popping but if its clicking then there ya go

Sounds like U joints, but check to make sure there isnt a spring broken, loose exhaust smacking something, etc. If it were in the front, I would guess motor/tranny mounts, but from the rear...........if everything else looks solid, I would go with U joints.

ya real deep popping almost thud thud thud noise from the rear. I have no idea what it is but he still drives on it...lol
