Anyone done it? Not quite sure how to pull the head rest out of the top of the seat. I need to recover both head rests and I have to remove them complete (with the metal slide)

 

What year? In my 04 GT (probably the same in all other 99-04 V6/GT's) tilt the headrest forward so the top is facing the front of the car, then pull it towards the front of the seat and it will just slip off.

This is probably useless to you, but you asked a question and didn't give enough information anyway.
