Default switching to synthetic

my '67 mustang is at 95,000 original miles...

would there be any benefit to switching to synthetic at this point?

it still runs like a champ and uses no oil

i've been running castrol gtx 10w-30

It's never too late to switch to a synthetic lube. One thing though, oil consumption MIGHT go up because of the different detergent additives. It could also go back down again as new deposits form and help seal rings, valve guides, and seals.

wal-mart sells super-tech brand fully synthetic oil...5 quart jug for about $12...

so i think i will try that stuff

worst case scenario i guess i'll go back to dino oil

also, is synthetic more likely to leak or have any other negative effects on an old engine???

I agree. This site deserves much more study.I added it to my favorites list so I won't lose the thing.I especially like the part about anti freeze.Mine needs changing and their theory sounds good.

Sounds good to me. I only run Mobile1 in the engine, and Royal Purple in the tranny and will put it in the dif when I get the gears installed next Monday.

depending on your driving conditions and stye, 30k-50k miles. A lot cheaper insurance than a new tranny. Usually why people are always replacing the tranny, and not the motor. People tend to forget about maintaining the tranny and rear.
