Default Shifter Question

I'm sure most of us know about the bitch from shifting from 2nd to 3rd...

so here's my NEWBIE question...

I want to get an aftermarket shifter (tri ax...pro 5.0 etc etc)

How much labor does this entail in putting one in (from a novice standpoint)

and secondly, does it make that much of a difference from stock?

thanks bro's.

i have a pro 5.0 on my 98 cobra. Makes a ton of difference. jsut pop off the housing, unbolt 4 screws, make sure u save the thin piece of circular foam that goes between, unbolt the 4 bolts to the shifter, and it's off......not hard at all. takes 10-15 minutes with the right tools. should be no problem. it is a LOT shorter than stock

thanks man. 'preciate it.

Not looking to do to much to it. But I can't stand my shifter. It will get it's first track test this spring...hopefully I can be in the high 12's/low 13's. Lose a little bit of power here in Colorado.
