Default What tire size?

I will be ordering some 18x9 wheels soon, and i'm not sure as to what common tire measurements mean.
I want slim wheels for my 18x9s and I read that 255/45/18 is a tire size that works.
Any advice on how to find tires that work or what the measurements mean would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Common tire measurements are as follows:

For example, you listed 255/45/18 for a tire.

255mm = width of the tire from sidewall to sidewall
45mm = height of the sidewall
18in = Diameter of the wheel

I believe 45 represents the percentage of tire width. Eg 45= 45% of 255mm. Tirerack.com is a great site for all tire info. I have 275/40-17 on front and 315/35-17 rear on 9.5 wheels in front and 10.5 in rear and they look small american muscle has great wheel tire packages
