Default 70's era 302 overheating issue

ok this is a 302 out of a mustang but it's in my bronco II, I can't seem to find the engine number that I wrote down a while ago, and am no longer able to get it as it's covered due to the super tight clearance in the engine bay, I've always had this issue where if you get stuck in traffic for more than 5 to 10 min depending on the air temp it will over heat I wanted to know is it possible that the previous owner had installed the wrong rotation water pump or if it was that it would over heat all the time?? it's a drivers side fed water pump and the decade urea I believe is early 70's with a mild cam.

Burp it. Purge all the air out of it.

If it still overheats make sure you have a good thermostat in it.

If it still does it flush your radiator.

If it still does it then suspect your water pump.

I highly doubt the issue is your waterpump.
