Default wheel bearing change HELP!!!

I just bought a 1987 Mustang LX about a week and a half ago..... The car originaly came out with a 4 banger. But, about 70,000 miles ago someone done a 5.0 swap with a T5 transmision and 3.73 gears in a 8.8 inch rear end. My front wheel bearings are going out and I am not sure if they where upgraded or not????? The parts store is telling be that the LX and the GT wheel bearings are a dif. part number as well as the LX with the 4 banger is a dif. part number then the LX with a 5.0????? This is where I need the help...... how do I know what bearings that I need? What is the difference in the wheel bearings on the 3 dif. cars?

ok well first you need to know if the person did a front brake swap, did they take and put the 5.0 brakes on your car if they did then you need a 5.0 wheel bearing because the 2.3's used different spindles. So find out if the brakes are from the 5.0 or the 2.3 and then get the ones according to those.

Can I buy a LX 5.0 spindle and upgrade the bearings, rotors, and calapers to what came on a LX 5.0?? Or will they not bolt up? If I replace what is already there will I keep having trouble due to the dif. in what is suposed to be with the 5.0 motor?

Take the old bearing out. There should be a part number stamped in it. If not, take the bearing to the Parts store, and have them match it. I used to match bearings a lot. It's not rocket science. Good luck!
