Default messed up clutch

ok i posted this in the 4.6 section with no replys yet so here we go:

if i go about 5,000 rpms and try to shift it now, the clutch pedal will make a breaking sound and stay stuck to the floor. all i have to do is pull it back up with my foot and all is fine again. it feels the same and shifts the same at all other rpm's, like nothing is wrong. the guy told me that it still has the plastic quadrant in it and it had an aftermarket clutch. he said that it is probably the plastic quadrant and cable that is all messed up and said we'd go that route in replacing that and see if that solves the problem. if that doesn't worket, he said he'd go with a centerforce dual-friction clutch. do you guys think it is the plastic quadrant and cable being messed up or something else? I was thinking maybe the pressure plate or that i just need a whole new clutch. what do you all think?

Default RE: messed up clutch

Don't buy it then see if that fixes it. You can look under the dash where the pedals are and see it. Check to see if it looks broke or weak in any way. I was thinking that might be what it was before you said that was his diagnosis.
