Lightbulb Which Mustangs have reliable engines?

Any information you can share will be accounted for 100% and I will be really grateful for the advice, I need to know all I can at this point.
I have heard American car engines have more problems than others, but I'm not sure if this is true, on that topic- are there specific Mustang car years that have engines that are less problematic than other years? in other words, which years should I avoid? Or which years should I favor?

It's time for me to own a Mustang,I just need more knowledge.
My budget is at most $10,000-I'm shopping off Craigslist.
I'm looking for Mustangs in the year 2000-2008 range(I don't like the models older than 2000, and from what I have noticed, I can't afford a Mustang newer than 2008)

I really appreciate this website being here and I hope someone out there with a vast knowledge about Mustangs can help me out here!

I'd avoid any Mustang from the 70's lol.

Seriously though, with that kind of budget, any engine option you'll be looking at will be reliable. AS LONG AS IT WAS MAINTAINED. Buying a used car off Craigslist can be sketchy if you don't know what your looking for. And if you have little or no experience wrenching on cars, I'd definitely take any car your interested in to a trusted mechanic for inspection. Or bite the bullet and buy from a reputable dealer. Good luck and enjoy the search.

Sounds like you need to do some research and reading. That's something that nobody can do for you.

I'll ask you this - if American engines were not reliable then why do the brands have so many loyal customers? Why do they last for so many miles?

Most vehicles have reliable engines if they are cared for and maintained properly. These engines are known to exceed upwards of 200k if they have been taken care of.

It is not the specific engine you need to be worried about, but as mentioned, the care it.....and the entire car has been given. A 50,000 mile car can be trashed, just as a 2000,000 mile car can be fantastic....all based on overall care. This means the entire car, not just the engine.

Look at all the cars within your price range and then make an educated choice.
