speedometer troubleshooting

Default speedometer troubleshooting

I replaced a guage on my cluster and had disconnected my speedometer cable at the instrument. It now reads too fast by 10 MPH. I put graphite in it and even disconnected it again and re fastened it. It still reads high. any advice?
