I have a 2008 Mustang GT. I put my car away last November for the winter and just put the battery back in and started it up. It now has this loud, scratching/ screeching sound. The noise goes completely away after about a mile of driving, but comes back each time I start it up. The noise does not go away or change when i press in the clutch. It does seem to change however with RPM's. I am not sure whether it could be the flywheel, something on the belt, or something else. When I put my car away for winter it did not have this sound. It kind of sounds like something needs to be greased. Has anyone ever experienced this? or knows what it might be?
tensioner and idler pulleys are common, but i have also heard alternators make loud screaming noises when cold as well, and of course check the water pump for play at the same time
