Hi I am new to this but need all the help I can get I just got a 01 mustang get and I new I had to replace the filler neck and gasket going into fuel tank cause when fill it can smell gas for a few min and it will leek out a little and the ses light came on and gave an Evap code but had to get towed yesterday and I don't know if it is iac alternator or fuel filter. Was driving just fine all day then it started jerking pretty good and then would lose all power after a min or two it would fire up drive fine for a few more min and did it again but if I pull over befor it shut down on me and put it in park it continued like it was gonna stalk out and the rom would jump from nothing to 1 any ideas or thoughts thanks

 

have you tried pulling codes from the computer?

 

I have not tryed again only happened last night but like I said I new it was throwing an Evap code not sure exactly witch one but figured it was due to the filler neck and gasket needing replaced

 

yeah that is why the evap code came on. i would scan it again and see if it has set any other codes. if it were the alternator you wouldnt be able to start the car back up as the battery would run the electrical system until it drained the battery.

 

also if it were the idle air control valve it would have a problem idling not driving, hence the name IDLE air control valve

 

Well it starts jerking and idling rough that's why I though that I'll check the codes again and see what happens if it throws anything new
