$400 for a 69 Nova is a helluva price no matter when it was bought. My first car was a rock solid 67 4-door Malibu 283 2speed w/AC that I got for 500.00 but at the time it was just another 15 year old car.

my first car was an '87 Plymouth Duster I paid $150 for, and this kid wants his parents to buy him a $21,000 Mustang?

the mind boggles.

Indeed that was a good price even in 1976. It was a white 2 door fast back with 3 speed on the column. It had blue **** carpeting, groovy man......

So if I understand correctly, you have the ability to pay for the car itself and the gasoline but not the $140 per month to insure it?

Sounds like you already have a job and you're not too far off from being able to just pay for the insurance too. $140 extra per month is not hard to earn. Ask for more hours or offer to work overtime. You could also sign up for Handy and take cleaning jobs when you have extra time. https://www.handy.com/ These are just a couple of ideas.

If you're paying for all of it then there's no way your parents have any say in you driving it.

Hey man, I just bought my first car... a 07 GT for 7.3k with my parents cosigning for me. But hey, if I can pay for it all myself and he can pay for his all myself (although i can only imagine how much his loans/taxes/insurance cost on a brand new stang) there shouldn't be any problems

It was a nice clean car. I'd scan a pic for ya but I'm standing next to it in all my groovy 1976 "leisure suit/platform shoe" glory....

well I suppose that outfit would at least match the era of the car (I think, I'm a little young to have witnessed the groovy days)
