i got a 06 GT and i been moving and its been a hell, but i had my spare key in my glove box, and one night i guess my car didnt lock (which is why i always double tap to lock and confirm with that beep, i used to be shy because i didnt want people to think i was showing off my car or get annoyed by the honk, but after one of these mother ****ers went in my car i dont even care anymore im gonna make sure its locked with that beep) but somebody went into my car cus the next morning my door was half open and i had my glove box open and papers all over the floor.

and it doesnt seem like they took anything, but i cant find the spare key that was in the glove box!! now im freaking out that maybe they are driving my car at night (i live in an apartment now)

what should i do? do i have to go to the dealer and change my whole iginition ssytem or what ddo i need to do? ;(

 

Id call a dealer and ask what they can do.

 

i called my local ford dealer, they wanted 200 doru!!!

but found a ford dealer about an hour away thats smaller but still a legit ford dealer, they can do it for 100$...basically they are gonna erase the old keys from my car's computer and just have my current key and the new spare cus this uses the "pats system" of keys that look like this and are registered with the car's computer

where if someone stole your keys, you pretty much lost your car :/

tbh though im glad it doesnt cost like 500$ to do this, i still cringe at simple maintenance costs, but i couldn't imagine having to maintain a bmw and all the BS that comes with life and the cars!!
