New Clutch Issues
Hi guys,
So I just finished installing a new clutch this week and noticed while driving around, that while I can feel that the new clutch holds power and is pretty smooth, there is an issue with engagement. I feel as though its very difficult to gradually get it into gear. Going into first almost makes the car jolt forward and shifts from 1-2 aren't much better.
My questions is, what would cause a brand new clutch to perform like this? Is it because I have not completed the break-in period yet? Could this be due to a stock clutch cable? Do you think having an adjustable cable will remedy this?

Thanks Chiss - the clutch is feeling a lot better after the 500 mi. break-in period. Still not as smooth as I hoped it would be but I'm going to eventually upgrade to an adjustable cable and quadrant and see what happens. My transmission is a mess but that's a whole nother problem...
I didn't see in your post about surfacing of Flywheel. This is a must for new clutch's, It never amaze's me at the number of new clutch's installed on a Fouled flywheel. All that work to and it's a $25 difference here in the south. High spots on the Flywheel and so called heavy duty clutch's are Junk, and are recipe's for sloppy clutch's. Hopefully it will hold up for you till you can get to it.
