Automatic Transmission or something else
I have a question. My 2007 ford Mustang automatic transmission will start up allow you to put it in any gear but will not move even though the motor revs up. Any idea what caused this. It drove normal the day before with no check engine warnings or anything. What is wrong?

There is a little clip that holds the shifter linkage cable in place, they are known to break.
If you shifter linkage is good then you either have low fluid, a broken pump shaft or the transmission is just shot.

linkage seems to be working fine. I went to local transmission shop 2 months ago. No leakage and fluid was good. We did notice rust around the rotors and the drive shaft not turning.

What did they do at the transmission shop 2 months ago?
The fluid doesn't smell like it's leaking, huh? LOL
Under what conditions was the driveshaft not turning? If it's not turning when you push the car in neutral, the problem could be in the differential. If it's not turning when you rev the engine in gear, then the transmission is not sending torque to the output shaft.
As for the driveshaft itself, keep in mind that the driveshaft has a direct connection to the differential, and therefore, the wheels too. It is splined to the output shaft of the transmission. If the driveshaft was BROKEN, you'd know it when you saw it.

Will the car roll like it is in neutral or does it seem like it's still in park? Chalk the wheels and pull the e brake and see if the drive shaft turns while it is sitting still, should be able to atleast tell if it is rear diff or trans related that way
