Is there an easy way to have the power controlled by the ignition switch rather than always being live?

 

Pull the fuse for them, then wire in a jumper fuse from an ignition source. Or
use the power from the source side of the fuse holder, put it to a relay, then
from the relay to the feed side. Use an ignition source to toggle the relay.

Source (hot) side slot to Pin 30
Pin 87 to Feed side slot
Ignition source to pin 85
Ground pin 86

Also, if your relay has pin 87a, that will be hot when the car is off, and
pin 87 is hot when the car is on...

On my former charger, they gave you two positions for the fuse to have them
on all the time, or ignition switched.

In my 2017, the power points seem to turn off somewhere between 1.5 and 2.0 hours after turning the ignition off.

 

He didn't specify his year, just posted in General Tech, so, General Tech answer
provided. I would pull the fuse, and use a fused jumper from an ignition source to
the send leg of the fuse. I did this with both my VWs, to do the opposite, I need
the 12V ports always hot. So, I found an open relay slot with +12 constant, and
put a spade tips on a fused jumper. Put one end in the relay slot, the other in
the TO 12V ports slot at the fuse location, voila, +12 constant.
