I just started to notice a slight ticking noise, not very loud at all. Is it ok to drive it like this? Just had the oil changed yesterday, other then that it runs great. I'm about to leave for a 1500 mile trip.

TIA!!

Just a note....you can't hear it if the hood is down, and I can't really hear it if I rev it some because the tick is small, hope this helps.

A better description would help.....

Ticking all the time, only or mostly under load, just for a second on a cold start...?

Could be many things, ranging from normal to bad. Could be fuel injectors (normal noise), a small exhaust leak, one of the accessories on the front of the engine, valvetrain, and more towards the "bad" end of the scale it could be timing chain related components.

Based on what you're saying though I wouldn't stress the 1500 mile trip you're about to take. Further diagnosis will be required to sort this out.

I can only hear it if the hood is open and I stand right there, sounds like it is coming from more towards the back part of the engine driver side. I can't hear it otherwise.
