Exclamation 3.8 back fire bad timing? HELP

We boutght a 2000 3.8 lt mustang and it was a show car looks really good but after three mounths of driving it, it died and wont start back, it turns over with no problems but after 3 or 4 cranks it back firers and re-pete's it again and again so we assumed it was bad timing bc its getting fuel and spark and air but this engine has less then 400 miles on it whitch i would think the timing going out would be very unlikly but then i was told the the timing is timed by rhe computer whitch made me think bad computer and just wanted some help figure out my next plan of action, i have also replaced all secors on the out side of the engine
