Insufficent EGR Flow?

Insufficent EGR Flow?
Hey guys, I have a friend with a 2001 Mustang v6. The ECM is throwing a code, I went ahead and pulled the code, turns out to be "Insufficient EGR flow".
Now I checked the vac lines and they seem to be ok, also vacuum tested the EGR itself and it's functions properly. Which leads me to believe it's this thing in the pic below. Neither he nor I have a manual for this car, so could anyone tell me what this is and if it could be the culprit for the MIL?
If not, what else am I missing here? And If so, how much do they normally go for new?
Thanks!!!

RE: Insufficent EGR Flow?
DPFE switch for the Mustang. What normally goes wrong in Fords 1995 and newer that throw the "Excessive EGR Flow" or "insufficent EGR flow" codes.
And yes, it it most likely the culprit as it is in over 80% of those that have a similar code in their newer fords. Excessive means the switch is stuck open. Insufficient means it's stuck closed. You can take it off, clean it out, reset the computer and see if that fixes it. If it pops back on, it will need to be replaced.

RE: Insufficent EGR Flow?
Thanks for the tip guys. Now what does DPFE stand for? I take it the ECM tells this switch to turn on when at cruise? And when you say clean it out, cleaning the electrical contacts or the air passages?
Thanks a lot guys!
Thanks a lot guys!

RE: Insufficent EGR Flow?
Differential Pressure (switch) For EGR (DPFE) or Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (sensor).
It basically controls how much exhaust gas is allowed into the AIR tubes attached to the exhaust manifolds. You can try carb cleaner in the pipe side and electrical cleaner in the hose side. I haven't found these switches to really be cleanable.
