ignition problem
I need some help. My wife bought a '65 1/2 about a year ago. Yea that's her login name. You can call me either Rick or "Sarge". I can answer to either. Although I am not a skilled mechanic I was a "parts changer" in the Army many years ago so I have turned a wrench here and there. I do not have a good understanding of and very little experience with diagnostics. We have had the car in the shop more than once because at random turns it will not start but will only "click" once per starting attempt. I have inspected, cleaned and or changed out every terminal between the starter and the battery. (Did I mention I was a parts changer). We got it back from the shop (about four months ago) most recently after replacing the solenoid switch for the third time. Currently when she tries to start the car the starter will not disengage but continues to spin until the "hot" cable is removed from the battery post. My first thought was that the solenoid is bad but as I said we have replaced it several times. BTW this solenoid is mounted on the right fender well and not directly on the starter.
