Default Car cranks but won’t start

I’m gonna start by saying this is my first mustang i’ve owned. It’s a 2006 v6 with about 140k miles. I bought it last year at around 120k, but the engine had been kept in ok shape. The other day I ran the engine around 4000rpm (nothing crazy) just to get around a car, and the engine suddenly died. I heard a thunk sound and my rpms bounced back and forth on the gage (0-redline), and the engine lost power (lights, power steering, everything). Now the engine cranks like it always does, but doesn’t start. Just replaced all new coil, wires, and plugs. Alternator and fuel pump both work, plugs are still fine, and I have full lights ect in my car and radio works like normal too (it’s a pioneer and the first sign of a bad battery makes the display fade). Fuses look fine too. I have a check engine and battery light on, code is p0320 for the ignition/distributor engine speed circuit and p0300 for random misfire. I have only taken the car to the shop once to get it inspected last year and I do my own work on it. The technician said he noticed my timing chain was kinda loose then, but I haven’t had many issues with a rough idle or timing issues. Maybe the chain jumped? But the noise was not very loud and didn’t sound metallic... Any ideas of where to look would be much appreciated as I have exhausted mine. I am replacing the crankshaft and camshaft sensors as soon as they get in since I read those could be a possibility...

For your sake, hopefully its not timing chain related. If the chain breaks (and sometimes when it jumps a tooth or more) a compression test may verify if this has occurred.Your engine has 1 primary and 2 secondary timing chains. If one or more cylinders on a bank of the engine have low compression, the chain for that side of the engine has broken or jumped. If cylinders on both banks are low on compression, the primary chain is likely broken. When the chain breaks, the valves dont open or close properly so compression drops. If the timing chains are ok,the first link below can be used to check/test the other possible causes for code P0320 & your no start/run condition. The crank position sensor harness being loose/ corroded or disconnected is the first thing I would check.Do the same to the cam position sensor harness too.If they are ok,use a multimeter and the info in the first link at the bottom to thoroughly trouble shoot each component that can cause your no start issue and the code.Since the crank sensor is used for crank position and for the tach,a crank sensor or harness issue would be more likely than the cam sensor, but its not ruled out of course. The second link below is a short, but detailed,write-up about the timing chains setup & function.
