underhood lighting

Has anyone used the aftermarket LED lights under the hood for car shows etc? I've been warned they could melt...any info would be appreciated!

I have Diode Dynamics installed under my hood and they're great. Controlled via my phone. Pulsates to the beat of music and changes color. Pretty cool.
