REAR ENDED, NEED ADVICE
Hi,
I'm a new member and I just got a 2006 V6 coupe last week. Today I was sitting at a red light and I was rear ended. I was crushed, but it turned out to be not that bad (kind of!). There were no dents but a few scratches and places where the paint was scraped off down to the black of the bumper. Also, when I run my finger along the line where the bumper meets the body, it is off about a millimeter or two, I think this must be from the impact. This is minimal damage I know, but it is a brand new car and I have to get it fixed. The insurance adjuster will be round soon from their insurance but I don't want to get stiffed. I want to get it fixed at the Ford dealership but does anybody know how this is usually fixed? Do they just repaint the bumper or replace it? Or will they need to put a new bumper on anyway since the fitment is slightly off now. Also, if anyone has an idea on the price that would be great. Thanks for any help!

what state? alot of laws differ from state to state, I would say, go get a estimate on your own at a ford dealer, tell them how you want it fixed... replaced rear bumper / whole car painted etc...etc whatever, when the adjuster shows up submit the estimate to him. Most state laws say you can get it fixed where YOU desire. Dont let them "fix" your car. You get it fixed and just have them pay for it. Take control of the deal, hold your neck and move with a stiff back.
Remember you didn't rear end anybody, they rear ended you.

Definitely, most insurance laws state that you can get it repaired at any body shop. However... that doesnt mean if you get a quote for $3 million that they have to pay for it. Your insurance adjuster will come around, appraise the damage, and that's how much they will pay.
