Default 351W into 01 GT?

I bought my GT because it is the fastest thing I could afford. If I had some more money I'd buy a Cobra, Saleen, Z06, or Viper.

I've been thinking about an engine build or swamp even before I bought the car. I have options between building a 2v 4.6L from scratch, building a 4v 4.6L from scratch, building a 2v 5.4L from scratch, or building a 351W from scratch. The thing about mod motors is that they are expensive. I might be able to build a 2v for 2 grand, but then I'd need a 5k for a blower. I have no clue how much will a 351 run me, but I know the blowers for those are in 2 grand range. What do you think, a blown mod motor, or a blown 351 build to match the performance or be better than S351?

edit.. uh, I want a road race car.

you dont need a blower if you go with a 351W. stroke it to 408, get a good sized cam and heads, you can easlity get 450 crank hp. if you want more than that, supercharge it and you can easily get 600 .

Sounds too sweet for a daily driver. I'm currently paying around $150 each month for the fuel, and that's just going to work and back. What if I gun a blown 408 each day. 5.8L engine is about as big as I want to go.

ever thought of just supercharging your current motor ? with some bolt-ons like gears, full exhaust, pulleys and a good tune ...that would be a very nice set-up IMO.

With a carbureted 351W, you have a zillion choices for bolt on mods, and it will be less expensive in the long run. You can also stay away from a computer car that is difficult to work on if you don't have the right analyzing tools.

aparently you haven't looked at the prices 2 grand might get you a set of heads and cams.

the 351 will be cheapest if the bunch but isn't gonna have the relability and will kill any resale value of the car. if you want to build a 4v motor go find you a older cobra you will be better off.

Um. 2 grand is about the price for a 2v forged motor if you do it yourself. That includes aluminum block, ported and polished PI heads, PI intake, and forged aluminum pistons. It be more if you want reduce friction and go with steel cylinder inserts. Yea, if you go with prices from Ford dealer it will come up to 5 grand.

+++++++++++

I wonder what kind of MPG I can expect with a strocked 351W while N/A and making 450ish brake hp? How about while on 12 psi of boost? What power will that kind of boosted combo produce?

Is there a multi throttle body EFI intake for the 351? I once saw one on eBay for SBF, for under $200, apperantly home main and it required a custom ECU. I'd get one like that if I could now.
