Default Bearing selection?

Im looking for bearings, what kind do you recommend? In terms of brand and style.

Roller, Ball bearing, Double row ball bearing or taper roller? They wont see RPM's higher than about 1800, but they need to be able to handle a bit of heat (no more than 200* id imagine), and a decent amount of side load.

Now what brands? Timken is probably tops, no? My dad has advised me to stay away from SKF, as his machines eat them up much quicker than timkens. What other good brands are out there that arnt too expensive? I know the set the kart originally came with were italian, and so was the second set. Something like VCCA was the brand name, as I recall. They didnt hold up very well.

Thanks

Jim

Actually... A racing kart axle... Just looking to see if theres anything better. Typically ball bearings are used.

They need to be able to handle a pretty good amount of side load from both sides without comming apart or binding up. Unsealed preferably.
