The 555R is a drag radial, treadwear is 100 and the only 2 sizes for an 18" rim is 285/335 or 305/45....however, they do make 275/40 R17's.....smaller rim, less weight, stickier tire......good dealy yo.......just get a cheapie pep boys set of 2, lol. Long as it keeps the rubber attached to the axle.
They also have the 555R2 in a 285/35 R18 size.....treadwear is 100 (this is aimed at being an autocross/road race tire). Apparently it's the newst addition and with the naming system and compound set up they have, I'd imagine that being the stickiest 555 you can get. It's a DOT radial.

jeep..over 400 hp not going to hook...there are several cars running 8.20's on drag radial...width does matter ask any pro stock driver if they could get 1/2" wider tire they would be knocking down 6.55's. yes the compound is VERY important like you said..but supension mods are as well..alot of guys need to compermise on wheels a 16" is a good all around rims to go fast and you lose about 40-65 pounds of unsprung wt. yes 17-18 look nice but going fast isn't always pretty

Nitto 555 ain't no drag radial bud
The 555R is more like a street tire that can do track duty, not a true drag radial.
As far as the width thing, how many people have 6 second cars? Compound makes much more of a difference (as does the right suspension and weight transfer) than a 1/4 or 1/2 of the same compound.
