Hey Guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I figured I was at least asking the right guys. Anyway, I recently backed into a '98 mustang and dented the front quarter panel on the driver side. Now, I checked on the price for the replacement panel, found a CAPA certified panel for it, for like $85-100. I know there is labor cost involved, paint (it's white), and what not. What I'm wondering is how a $100 dollar panel, and that is all that it needs, could come out to around $1400. The person told me thats what it was quoted for. Somehow it doesn't make sense. Input please, thanks.

 

Might be a BIT steep, Id guess like 1000 tops and thats for an AWESOME paint job. Are they replacing the QP or are they going to do body work on it? If they are doing oldschool work (hammer and dolly) then I can understand a fairly high price. Painting a car is a hell of alot more than just spraying on a coat of paint. They need to fit it all up, take it off, clean it, possibly bondo, prime it, give it a few coats of paint, possible wetsand, then clear, and possibly wetsand again.

Are both of your insurance companies involved in this? Because NO WAY is it going to cost $1400 to replace and paint a quarter panel. Hundred or so for the panel.....plus paint.....thats is WAY overcharged. If not already involved....call your insurance agency so you don't get ripped off.

Edit: Did you do any damage other than the fender?
