I have a 1969 Mach 1 351 W. I removed my altenator for minir cleaning. After reinstalling (all connections are exactly as were before removing) the connector between the selinoid and altenator gets extreamly hot and starts smoking. I had the altenator checked and passes testing. Any ideas. My email is tinktoy@charter.net

 

Sounds like you hooked the wire up the the ground side of the solinoid. make sure it is hooked to the side that goes to the pos side of the battery.
