single to split port =how much hp?
i asked this question in the v6 section but i guess noone knows...um i have a 98 v6 that has single port injection and it has like 145 hp or something and the 99-01s have split port and have 190 hp and i think, not for sure, that this is the main difference in the hp between the 2 and was wondering just going to the split port how much hp that would add ? and also would it be worth it to try and do it yourself or would a professional have to do it.......worth the money as well and good for a first mod besides the simple bolt-ons and exhaust?

99 3.8 came with 193 crank HP. So at least 43 more hp with the split port.

You will see the same power as the 99+ model cars and yes you can do the swap but it is very detailed.
You will need the complete top end of a splitport mustang. You will need the heads, lower and upper intake, not to mention all the vacuum and linkage accessories with it. You will have alot ahead of you if you are doing it yourself, even for an experianced tech it will take some time to get through all that crap.
For the easy way out you need to take a visit over to SuperSixMotorsports and buy their products.
Get a set of their SuperHeads fully ported with larger valves and get their sheetmetal upper intake manifold. You will go from 193hp to about 250 with a good tune and according injectors, 24lbs injectors will be good for that setup, a larger maf will be required as well. The kit will offer you a huge world of modification paths that you can take. The stock block can handle about 400hp and with these heads you can build that easy. Centrifugal supercharging or turbocharging is always a good and easy way to get power with these engines. A snail will be cheaper though.
Now if you dont want to go that way but want more power then 193hp and 230tq (Or somthing like that) then I would suggest getting the upper and lower intake from either a Windstar Van (Mid 90's) it will have a high flowing plastic upper, or you can get a 97-99 F150 V6 upper and lower, both will be aluminum and flow great, you will probably see 210hp and 250ftlbs torque. But you will need a taller hood and a custome intake to fit the new intake, it is a huge huge thing, and porting it out can get the same flow numbers as the sheet metal intake, only diff is that you have more plenum area then the sheet so more power can be gained.
Welp good luck and have fun.

RE: single to split port =how much hp?
i got the 98 man,one year short of the 40+ hp...[:@]...but thanks man thats alot of great info i can use, and im not sure if im gonna go that route yet or just save my money to trade for a gt....but yea thats definately alot of help, especially about the vans intake, i knew little about that but not what kind of van and what years have the right intake that would fit....what about a ford explorer intake, i think i read somewhere that these would fit too, or would those be for a gt....im not real sure...but a good 60 hp+ with these mods would def. be worth the time and money IMO...150+60~=almost gt hp..and thats where i want to be with a little v6...i think with all the intake mods, exhaust, good tune, gears, and simple bolt-ons to my stock 3.8 will definately push past a gt or definately add a WHOLE lot more hp than ive got now...if i was to get a performance upper and lower and cam, which stage cam would be better without going over the top, still making it a daily driver but being able to punch past stock sixes easy=is stage 2 too much?
