I just purchased an 89 GT claiming to have a 93 Cobra motor in it. It clearly has a Cobra intake manifold, but I don't know how to tell if the rest of the motor is truly a cobra motor. Are there any clear differences to identify without having to run serial numbers on the heads etc.? If so (about the serial numbers) where do I find these and what numbers would I be looking for?

 

the head casting #'s will tell you a lot cobras also had underdrive pullies form the factory along with diffent computers. the easiest thing might be to putt the ecu and check the numbers on it.

 

I don't know if the ecu was also transplanted with the motor or if the stock 89 ft ecu is still intact. Also I don't wouldn't how to discern between the two ecu's. What are the visual differences? What number on the head casting would I be looking for?
