LUG STUD
Check it... i was rotating tires on the weekend and strip out a lug stud on the left rear wheel of my '02 GT ...i've heard that replacing a lug stud can be done at home...what is the procedure for fixing it myself and what tools do i need?

RE: LUG STUD
You can replace wheel studs by pulling them through from the back if you didn't strip the mounting flange.Just start the new stud in from the back side and use a stack of washers and a bolt to pull it into place.make sure the splines on the new lug bolt and the flange are lined up or you will weaken the interference fit between the two.If the flange is stripped you might have to get a new axle but it's doutfull since the axles are heat treated to a higher degree than the lugs. You can use Loctite Green to set a stud in place if it seems loose when you are installing the new lug but Green is pretty much permanent.

to add to that
use a hammer and just knock the old stud back the usualy come right out. and a impact wrench will make this job sooo much easier. i used to work in a shop if you have a impact it takes about 5 min to replace a stud.

Yeah, if the bastard is really in there, and you dont feel like bending anything by beating it with a hammer, you can use a c clamp to press the stud out. Only had to do it once(only replaced studs twice).
Only tools youll need is the socket to take the caliper bolts off (get it out of the way) a coat hanger to hang it up on something, a hammer or c clamp to take the push the stud off, and some washers. Also socket that fits your lug thats all ya need.
