i have an stock auto 01 muatang gt , last night at the races i ran 14.5 at 96

i have the hypertech programmer, i adjust for more power and stiffer shift
changed 1-2 gear to go at a higher RPM and left 2-3 gear to factory setting

is it better to stay in the lower gears as long as possible or get to third gear as fast as possible

what RPM should i adjust the car computer to for faster times at the track
i want to know from 1-2 and 2-3 or even 3-4

 

lower gears as long as possible.

shift points somewhere around 5600-5800

low shift points hurt ET in a HUGE way

 

I have an 02 Auto GT. The first thing you need to do is get rid of them stock gears!!! I cant even begin to tell you how much they are killing you and the notice in difference is gonna be HUGE. You will wish you had done it the minute you bought the car. Most will say 4.10s if your gonna stay N/A and 3.73's if your gonna go blown. I have a procharger with 4.10's and I love it. You also need to get rid of that stock torque converter. As far as shift points you need to max out your horse power in each gear and after that there is no need to stay in that gear no matter where your points are.
