Default Hood Problems

I hope this is the right section for this question. I have a 2000 Mustang GT that I just bought on Wednesday. Well I pop the hood today and when I went to shut it it wouldn't latch down completely. It will catch the first thing but not completely latch closed. From looking at the latch there isn't any obvious reason it won't close. I didn't move anything or take anything out that would prevent it from closing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You need to close it a little harder. Take out the prop rod and just let it go and it should latch.

I tried that many times but after a few I just quit so I wouldn't warp the hood.

Try pulling the hood release again while the hood is up. If you hear a click than the second latch was locked and stopped hood from closeing completely. That should work then.

Well, at this point, I would need to see it for myself then. It may be frozen and wont unlatch. Lube everything up and try again. Sounds like its in the locked position and the release cable isnt pulling on the latch.

Here is the picture of my latch. The part that is suppose to hold down the hood I can push and it will lock down in the closed position. Then I go pull the hood release and it will go back up to the position it is suppose to be at. Thanks

Holy shiz im lost now. Only other thing I can think of is the hood. How does the hood look where the latch catches onto?

Well I ended up fixing it earlier. I found out that the one of the two bolts that held it on came loose so it shifted. I just put it back up and closed the hood and now no problems. Thanks for the help though.
