Judging by your picture, your car is stick. Disregard this if its not, but you cant do remote start on a stick car. They run about $200 installed, and I dont know of any brand names, I think its pretty much whatever the place you go to has. They work good, but are just one more thing to break. And if you have a chip in your key, youll need another key to keep in the car, so add whatever that is on to the bill. Nice to have in the winter though.
Not true. I have a 5-speed and I have a Viper remote start and full alarm on it (I'm with sarahstang on that one - do it). Have it in neutral with the e-brake engaged, press both arm and disarm and voila! ignition. Hasn't failed me yet, and you want to talk about a creature comfort. Well worth the money...

If it happens to be in gear, the remote will not turn the car over, either - crucial detail! [sm=smiley22.gif]
I didnt mean its not possible, I just dont trust my ebrake. I guess it's different for me though, My driveway is on an incline. I never leave my car in neutral, and it has to be in reverse to get the key out, so I just leave it there. And if the neutral safety switch fails, there is no way to stop the car, because you arent in it. Corrected statement: I would not personally install it on a manual, and some places won't install it, because people are retards and will blame them if the remote start messes up their car.

If anyone is interested, I carry the Viper 791XV remote start and car alarm on my site. I can get members pretty good pricing. Pricing on the site is $349 but I can take $100 off for any member. This alarm has so many features and it is one of the top of the line alarms out there today. Feel free to ask any questions. Here is what you get with the kit...

Just curious what are you using to kill the start if it's left in gear? I plan on adding a Viper one of these days...
What do you mean? I would say that I am not using anything. The car just does nothing if it's in gear. I may not be understanding your question. Do you mean how is it wired to make that work?
Once I forgot that I had it in gear and tried to remote start it. I was so PO'd thinking that the remote starter fried, got to the car and it was in 2nd in addition to the e-brake. Slipped it into N, backed off just to check, and it busted right off.
There has to be something to tell the system where the shifter is or complete a circuit. There is nothing attached to the shifter or transmission that would otherwise tell the remote start system what gear you are in... Have you ever had the shifter boot trim off, and looked at the shifter?
