distributor help please

Default distributor help please

i have built a 289 kb domes,edelbrock heads, 1.6 roller rockers. 224 dur .512 lift cam,air gap intake street avenger 770 carb, blue brinted and spun balanced. question is i have a msd distributor centrifugol and do not know where timing should be set at and what spring and stops i should use in it. please help

call up the cam company they should be able to help. just aske them if they have a timing recomendation for that cam.


my best guess would be a base about 15 or 16 with 93 octane.(thats if the distrbutor has an advance.)

I've got the same setup. A guy on here told me to run 10 to 12 degrees intial with 38 degrees total. With a hot cam you should be at full timing at around 2200 RPMs. I bought a set of weights and springs and it came with a sheet that had all the timing curves. That should tell you what combo of springs and weights to use to get your timing in by 2200.
