The shift kit keeps the line pressure up in an auto tranny to change shifts on the fly ( 1-2 2-1 and D and OD for 4th) They also make the tranny last a little bit longer because of the quicker firmer shifts. It makes the auto way more fun. For something really cool check this out Manumatic TCS system You can change gears (1-4!) on the auto with the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel!

it increases the oiling ability of the trans, and firmire springs for increased points.

they are only for auto's

better oiling = harder shifts (smooth shifts come starving the trans for oil, and shifting dry)

transgo, B&M , many many many companies them

Default RE: shift kit????

delgadog....i am going to be buying a shift kit this weekend after doing a lot of research on this subject...just to give you some info...

1) a shift kit gives firmer and quicker shifts through an auto tranny, allowing less slippage
2) from what i heard, the best brand to go with is transgo, their shift kits also have different settings where you can set it to different stages, depending how you want the car to shift
3) if getting a shift kit, i would recommend a tranny cooler, nothing big or expensive, but just a cheap tranny cooler to help out
4) good mod...probably good for knocking around .2 off of your 1/4 mile time

any other questions just post up my man
