Default Diagnostic test connector location?

Im throwing a check engine light and i looked in the haynes and it says i need to locate the daignostic test connector so i can hook a voltage meter up to the pins, it doesnt say left or right side does anyone know where this is located?

Under the dash on the drivers side. Cant miss it

it says in the manual its by the strut bushing in the engine bay

89 5.0, thats where mine is, under the hood driverside in the corner by the firewall.

hmm i dunno man it says its under the hood but im not seeing anything. bump for anyone whos ever checked the codes on a 3.8

it won't be very big and it might have a cover on it just keep looking some times they will have a red cap to make them easier to spot.
