Default racing an auto

What is the the best way to drag race an 01 mustang gt auto

when i race at the tracks i leave it in D(drive) but some people said start it in first and shift to second then to drive or back to first

i run 14.4 when left in drive
how about manual shifting

If you wanna blow an engine or screw up your tranny you can shift from 1st to 2nd manually, then back to 1st at like 10000rpm's=not a good idea. I heard leave it in drive or put it in drive and turn the overdrive off. But I believe if you leave it on like normal you still wont go into overdrive in the 1/4, because you top out at around 100 or so. Respectable time for your 01GT auto, thats what I have and was wondering what others ran stock. Wait a second, are you stock? If not what mods do you have?

get yourself a stall converter and an electronic shift tune. the shift points can be modified to whenever you want to shift the tranny. use 3 speed and you will be in good, and consistant times.

I heard the stall converters can do wonders with an auto, but I'd get 4.10 gears first, then maybe a stall with shift kit.
