Default Heater Core

ok im pretty sure my heater core is on its way out. antifreeze smell at heater startup, antifreeze residue on windsheild every 10 minutes , defogger does not work, all the symptoms.

i was wondering if anyone has replaced a heater core on their car, i have an 88 gt with A/C but the A/C is not hooked up.

how long is the job or how much has it been at local shops for anyone whos brought it in for it

yep your heater core is done, it will cost at least $400 to have a garage do it
well thats the qoute i've gotten before, get a buddy to give you a hand
and tackle it yourself, you'll be glad you saved yourself all that money
thats what i did.
you'll have to drop the steering wheel down, then drop the whole dash down
its a job to do it and it will take about 3 or 4 hours

its kinda pain in the *** but not that hard to do just time consuming. the book time is like 6 or 7 hours but thats taking in the A/C its about 4 hour job with out the ac. and on the bright side when ya get it done you can see the fire wall form the inside of the car. because pretty much every thing comes out. staring with teh console.

it was a bitch for me on my 96 gt which involves the same process. i didnt take the ac out i just cut the heater box to swap out the cores, then ducktaped it back up. heat works perfect now (well i had to make my own heater hose cause the motor swap)
