Fan won't work...

Fan won't work...
Hello, new to the forum and I have a question on a 2000 Mustang. 
The fan switch in the dash doesn't seem to work except if it's turned to high.
I called the Ford dealership and they mentioned that it might be a resistor or something in the blower box that is damaged.
Anyone have this problem and any suggestions?
