Default '96 Cobra Anti-theft problems???

Hey folks,

I have a good friend that thinks he has a problem with his anti-theft system on his '96 Cobra. Basically he was having nuisance alarming while sitting in the garage and his daughter removed the fuse that powers the anit-theft system. Now the car will not start and acts as though the battery is low which he has already replaced. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

James aka 04mach4dad

I had an electrical leak that sounds similar to this prob. I was trying to narrow it down and found that it was in the wiring to the anti-theft unit in the trunk of my GT. I ended up cutting a wire under the carpet just where the drivers seat meets the floor. Try to narrow it down to a single wire and check some electrical diagrams. I used my Haynes repair manual to help out. I really didnt fix the problem just eliminated it. My anti-theft now activates and the car will start fine. I rellly have not figured out what the wire that I cut was powering because everthing on my car works fine. (knock on wood.) Hope that helps some.
