i think my diff is shot. figure it cuz ive been a one wheel wonder latley.


im going the route of 5 lug 31 spline axles .new diff. gears, and 5 lug drums. need some help though.



ok im going to use the 9" 5 lug Ranger drums
possibly an explorer 31 spline diff
4.10 or 3.73 ford racing gears
but where can i get 31 spline axles that are the stock length of my stock ones in my 88


if you have any info on my project please elaborate, i need to know what will work and what wont. THANKS

 

junkyard way, go with drivers side alxes from a 83-92 ranger with a 7.5 inch rear end or passenger axles from an 86-97 aerostar.

 

thanks for the info on the years of the ranger and aerostar that will be very useful if i stick with 28 spline.

but for now im looking for where i should look for 31 spline that will fit properly on my stock drum to drum rear

 

oh also.... will both axles from either side work..... like left front and rear axle from a ranger. or will i need to use only one rear axle from each truck

 

Jegs or summit will have them they will cost ya but that s part of the game.
