Default ford vs. chevy

i am pretty new to the mustang world because i am only 17, i wanted to know which car is actually better, a camaro or a mustang, i know the camaro is 5.7 vs. the 4.6 of a mustang but the gt has 16 v and cobra has 32v. is it better to have a smaller engine with more valves or a bigger engine. and if you were to put twin turbos in both of them which would go down the 1/4 faster

i have a auto 01 mustang gt and i love it, runs 14.2 @ 98

stock for stock the ls1 is a boatload better than a stang.

as far as mods go...the gm's are more expensive and harder to mod.

it depends on what you want to do, and how far you go.

the gm's will stop too....not like a mustang

Stock for Stock, the engine, transmission are better in the F-body.

Modified vs Modified engine = the F-body is superior

It's more about personal preference. If you are looking for bang for your buck performance to get into the 11's, LS1 F-body is the way to go, no questions asked.

The 2v 4.6 is good for about 400-450RWHP before you will need to call a tow truck for a ride home. The 3650 is also a weak transmission.

The GM 10bolt is rather weak..... tons of door sag...blahblahblahblah

Ahhh, the eternal question. Which is better, an apple or an orange?

I'm sure a mod will move this to the appropriate area, as this isn't a tech Q.

Who cares really. Neither is truly better, they both have their ups and downs. In the end it matters which one you like.

I am not your typical LS1 guy, I really am not even a chevy guy at heart (I like Mopars shh). I hate these types of posts though because they always turn into bashing and ignorant people that actually think one is better than the other **** me off.

its very tough to say, if you compare overall Ford will probably take the win, i could give a breakdown why if necessary, if your comparing stang in general vs. ls1 and trans am, stang overall would win simply because they have a wider variety of stangs such as (Saleens, Roushs, Mach1, and Cobras), but if it were just GT vs. ls1 maros and t/a's, id give the win to the trans ams and maros all day

I would say for the engine and performance stock - ls1 camaro would be a better option
If you wanna mod both, I would say the stang because you can add like so many more mods to the stang compared to the camaro. But I would say Ford wins the overall battle like stated above, they have so many more types of stangs than Camaros.

But like JD1969 said, "its just a personal preference of which one you like better".

By the way, 01musgt, what mods do you have to run a 14.2 with an auto gt? I have an 01 auto gt myself and was wondering what I would run since I've never been to the track.
