pulley removal

Default pulley removal

My first post so be patient please..

does the crank pulley come off in two pieces..ie 1.the belt carier 2. the h balancer and timing marks.

What works best to remove it.
This is my first time with a 302 and I want to change teh waterpump.

Go to any advance auto and by the cheap harmonnic balancer tool and just remove it as one piece. Take Care and good luck! And in the future dont ask simple questions. Thanks!

no, when you remove the belt the outer pops off. the balancer is has nothing to do w/ it...just looks that way. and just a ratchet i think used to use. been a few years since did any pulleys.

leave the belt on to loosen the alt , or you will never get it....i think that is like 1 1/16" or something odd.

the others are ez...

Thanks Nitrous bob.

I will rember that for the next time. My belt is already gone. That make sense to use teh force from teh tensioner to pull the pulley off.
