RE: drag slicks
There is more to tire selection than just putting the largest diameter that will fit. The taller the tire the higher (numericly lower) your effective gear ratio will be, that and it's added weight which will slow you down. Most slicks come are made for a 15 inch rim. My suggestion is to get a set of Mickey Thompson drag radials that is about the same size as your stock tire, unless you are making a ton (over 400 rwhp) they will hook fine, and might actually give you a better time than the slicks.

RE: drag slicks
You'll more than likely never need anything larger than a 10.5" "slick"
The MT ET Street 26x10.5x? will take you a long long way.
They DO get a little squirrely around the end of the track, but you can't expect much from a bias ply.
Or you could do as JD said and go with a pair of DR's
You won't have that *** end wobble, and if you're not making a good amount of torque you should be fine off the line.

RE: drag slicks
there are guys out there running 7's on 28 10.5's so i think a set of 10.5's will do you fine.
But like Jd said a set of big slicks can slow you down you do get a lot off the line but what happens is they cause a lot of drag on the top end so after a few foot you won't be ablt to pick up speed as well as on a set of radials.
btw learned this form John Urist if ya runn a over sized wheel like a 11" wheel with 10.5" slicks it will help stabilize it a on the top end. he said ya loose some out of the hole but what you gain with drivability on the top end is worth it.
