Default trouble...

ive been having trouble with my 1980 mustang(auto), when i turn it on i let warm up for maybe like 5 minutes. then when i put it on drive it lags and doesnt move when i give it gas it feels as though im on neutral all though i am not. after a lil lag and giving it gas it finally moves and since it revs up i end up peeling out when i dont want to. is there anyway i can fix this problem???

Check the fluid level.Does this seem to happen mostly when the engine is cold?A low fluid level won't let the pump supply fluid the rest of the tranny and it won't go into gear.If the fluid level is full then the pump might be bad. This means tranny removal and rebuild.[:'(]
